Justice Comes to St. Louis County
I can report to you that progress is being made, but that there is still a vast gulf that must be bridged if we are to reach a place where human rights are fully protected and respected in this state.
In preparing to speak with you all today I reread the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and found inspiration from a quote featured on that page of your website. I’m sure it’s familiar to everyone here, the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, which so eloquently capture the essence of the local and international fight for human rights.
She asked: “Where, after all, do universal human rights BEGIN?”
She answered: “In small places, close to home—so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world.”
